When producing very thin foils, two layers are rolled. This has two different surfaces (glossy and matt). In contrast, the inner surface is slightly rough due to free-forming, so due to strong forming, the aluminum hardens during rolling, which means that the aluminum becomes more and more the harder. Subsequent soft annealing makes it soft and flexible again.
